Dr. Olanrewaju Fayemi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree in Food Science with specialization in Food Microbiology from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He was a Research Fellow at the Department of Food Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa before joining the service of Mountain Top University as a Lecturer at the Department of Biological Sciences/Food Science and Technology. His areas of interest include Food/Industrial Microbiology, Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Industrial Practices. His research is focused on evaluating the prevalence of foodborne pathogens along the raw and food marketing chain using various molecular and modern technological innovative approaches. He also has a passionate interest in food product development and has developed a cereal beverage (“motoho”) for one of the leading food companies in South Africa. He has also served as quality assurance consultant to some food companies. He has successfully engaged in Postdoctoral Research Fellowship on European and African (ERAFRICA) collaborative research project funded by the Institut de Recherche pour le Dévelopment (IRD), Paris, France in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST), South Africa and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), South Africa. He was a recipient of University of Pretoria Research Support Grant for 3 consecutive years, University of Pretoria Conference Grant and South African Society of Dairy Technology (SASDT) Conference Grant. Dr Fayemi has supervised some undergraduate and postgraduate students to completion and he has served as a reviewer for many international journals. He is a Professional member of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP), a member of International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), a member of Society for Applied Microbiology (SfAM), a member of American Society for Microbiology (ASM), a member of African Association for Food Protection (AAFP), a of member South African Association of Food Science and Technology (SAAFoST), a member of South African Society of Dairy Technology (SASDT) among others. He is happily married and blessed with children.
